This one-of-a-kind experience was the 2018 Skowhegan Moose Fest's VIP event of the weekend! Chef Kate Krukowski Gooding—author of Black Fly Stew: Wild Maine Recipes (as seen on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern on the Travel Channel)—prepared creative wild game dishes, while Borderline Express provided fantastic live music including classic rock, modern rock and country, and originals.
Menu items included:
- Beaver summer sausage
- Apple venison meatloaf
- Chipotle wild game BBQ lasagna
- Black fly stew
- Wild mushroom moose meatballs
- White BBQ wild turkey
- Moose & venison sausage jalapeno poppers
- Habanero bean dip
- Local cheese platter with fruit
- Fresh bread made with spent grains from Bigelow Brewing
- Gifford's ice cream
Skowhegan's own Bigelow Brewing and Oak Pond Brewing, plus Farmington's Tumbledown Brewing, poured four-ounce samples of their local brews. Tree Spirits served wine and brandy samples, and Chadwick's Craft Spirits offered samples of their Triple Distilled Maple Craft Spirits for sipping. Alcohol sampling for 21+ attendees only.
